Coverage

Every corner of Devon, including the awkward ones.

Three postcode areas and about as much variety as an English county can hold — a naval city, two coasts, a national park and a lot of market towns. Here is how we actually think about it when we plan a move.

PL

Plymouth and the south-west corner

The city plus the western edge of the moor. Dense, flat-heavy and full of small moves in the centre; open and straightforward once you are out at Plympton. Tavistock and Yelverton put you back on moorland roads.

Plymouth · Plympton · Plymstock · Ivybridge · Tavistock · Yelverton · Modbury

EX (north)

Barnstaple and the north coast

A long way from the M5 and worth planning for. The A361 in and out is the whole story, and the coastal villages add steep approaches and parking that vanishes in summer.

Barnstaple · Bideford · Braunton · Ilfracombe · South Molton · Torrington · Lynton

TQ

Torbay, the Teign valley and the south coast

Resort towns with a lot of Victorian conversions and flats above shops, then the newer estate building inland around Newton Abbot. Seafront parking in season is the recurring headache.

Torquay · Paignton · Brixham · Newton Abbot · Teignmouth · Dawlish · Totnes · Kingsbridge

EX (central & east)

Exeter, the east and mid Devon

The county town and its commuter ring, plus the new estates spreading east towards Cranbrook. Easiest access in the county on the whole, and the natural start of any run up the M5.

Exeter · Exmouth · Tiverton · Honiton · Cullompton · Ottery St Mary · Sidmouth · Axminster · Crediton

EX (moor)

Dartmoor and the western villages

The part of the county that decides which van we send. Single-track lanes with high banks, no turning circles, and properties where the last two hundred metres need a smaller vehicle and a shuttle.

Okehampton · Chagford · Moretonhampstead · Bovey Tracey · Ashburton · Widecombe · Princetown

Not on the list?

The list is where we are most weeks, not a boundary. If you are in a hamlet nobody has heard of at the end of a lane with grass growing down the middle, that is normal here and we will still come. Put the postcode on the form and mention the access.
