Moving in Devon, made simple.
We're a Devon removals firm working the whole county — Exeter and Plymouth, the Torbay coast, the market towns, and the farms and cottages out on Dartmoor. House moves, man-and-van jobs, the long haul up-country, and moves that carry on into Europe.

Moving across Devon — and the long haul up-country.
Devon is a big county and it does not move like a city. An Exeter move might be forty minutes door to door. A move from a cottage above Ilfracombe to a bungalow in Kingsbridge is most of a day before you have carried anything, and the last half mile is the part that decides which van we send.
So we plan around access first. Lane width, overhanging branches, whether there is anywhere to turn, whether the removal lorry can get past the gatepost or whether we are shuttling in something smaller. Coastal properties add their own problem — steps down to the door, a slipway, no parking within sight of the house in August.
The other half of the work points the other way. A lot of people leaving Devon are going a long way: the Midlands, the North, London, the commuter towns. That is a full day on the M5 and M4 or M25 before the unload starts. We treat those as long-distance jobs from the outset — crewed for the hours, loaded so the last thing in is the first thing out, and insured for the distance.
House removals
Whole-house moves across the county — terraces in Exeter, new-builds off the A38, farmhouses with a yard full of things nobody has looked at since 2009.

One van, one or two of us, for a flat, a room, a single big item or a part-load. Busiest in Plymouth, where most of our small jobs come from.

Devon to anywhere in the UK. The M5 haul is the whole shape of the job, so we plan and crew it as a long run rather than a local move with a big drive on the end.

Full or part packing, containers when a chain slips, and clearing what you have decided not to take with you.

Three postcode areas, one county, and a lot of different kinds of move inside it. These are the places we are in most weeks.
PL
Plymouth
Naval city, big rental market, a lot of flats and a lot of small jobs. Most of our man-and-van work starts here.
EX31 · EX32
Barnstaple
North Devon's market town and the way in to the coast — Braunton, Bideford, Ilfracombe and the villages behind them.
TQ12
Newton Abbot
The hinge between the Teign valley, Torbay and the edge of the moor. Older terraces and a lot of new estate building.
Also regularly in Exeter, Torquay, Paignton, Exmouth, Tiverton, Bideford, Teignmouth, Dawlish, Honiton, Tavistock, Okehampton, Totnes and Sidmouth — plus the moorland villages that do not appear on anyone's coverage map. See the full list.
Leaving the country, not just the county.
Removals from Devon to four European countries. The domestic leg is long before you even reach the crossing, so we are honest about how those moves run and what the paperwork involves now.

The route →Questions we get asked
Do you cover the whole of Devon?
Yes — EX, PL and TQ. Exeter and Plymouth are our busiest, then the Torbay towns, Barnstaple and the north coast, Newton Abbot and the Teign valley, and the moorland villages in between. If you are somewhere with a tricky track and no turning circle, say so on the form and we will plan around it.
Can you get a lorry down our lane?
Often, but not always, and we would rather find out before the day than on it. Plenty of Devon properties sit at the end of a single-track lane with high banks and no passing place. Where a Luton cannot get near, we shuttle in a smaller van. It costs you nothing to tell us the access is awkward; it costs everyone a morning if we turn up blind.
How do you work out the quote?
Volume, distance and access. We look at how much is going, how far it is travelling, and what the load-in and load-out actually involve — stairs, lane width, parking, whether there is a lift. For anything more than a small flat we will do a video survey so nobody is guessing. You get the figure in writing before you commit.
Do you move people out of Devon as well as around it?
That is a good chunk of what we do. The long haul up the M5 to the Midlands, the North, London and the South East is a real Devon need — a lot of moves out of the county are a full day of driving before anything gets carried. We crew and plan those properly rather than treating them as a local job with a longer drive.
What about moving abroad?
We run removals from Devon to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Same collection standard, then the load goes on a groupage or dedicated service depending on volume and how quickly you need it. We handle the customs paperwork side. See moving to Europe for how the routes actually run.
