About us
A Devon firm that works the whole county.
We move people around Devon, out of Devon, and occasionally out of the country altogether. That is the whole business. We are not a national brand with a Devon phone number.
What we actually do
House removals across the county, man-and-van work for flats and part loads, the long haul up-country when somebody leaves, and removals from Devon to France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. Around those sit the things every move needs sooner or later — packing, storage when a chain slips, and clearing what you have decided not to take.
How we work
We survey before we quote. For most jobs that is a video call, which takes twenty minutes and saves everyone the argument that follows a guessed price. We put the figure in writing. If we get the volume wrong we say so rather than adding it quietly at the end of the day.
We ask about access before anything else, because in this county it decides the job. A Luton that cannot reach the door is not a small problem, and finding out at eight in the morning is worse than finding out a fortnight earlier.
What we will not do
We will not quote a price without knowing what is going. We will not send a two-person crew to something that needs four and hope. We will not take a booking for a service that is wrong for your move — if you have asked for a man and van and you have a four-bed house with a loft, we will tell you.
And we will not put a number on a web page and pretend it applies to your move. Volume, distance and access differ too much in Devon for that to mean anything.
The county itself
Devon is the third largest county in England and it does not behave like one place. Exeter is a small city with a commuter ring. Plymouth is a naval city with a rental market that never stops turning over. North Devon is an hour from the motorway before you start. Dartmoor is a national park with lanes that were never built for a seven-and-a-half tonne vehicle. The English Riviera fills up every summer and the parking disappears.
Working all of it means owning vans of different sizes and being willing to shuttle when the big one will not fit. That is less efficient than running a single fleet out of one depot. It is also the only way to actually cover the county.
